Muthaiya Muralitharan best bowler in the world, popularly known as Murali, is a Sri Lankan cricketer who was ranked the greatest Test match bowler of all time in 2002 by Wisden Cricketers Almanac.

Muthaiya Muralitharan holds several world records and has many firsts:
Most Test wickets (800 wickets till 22 July 2010).


Most ODI international wickets, wickets till 22 July 2010).

The highest number of international wickets in Test matches, ODIs and Twenty20 combined (1320 wickets as of 22 July 2010).

The most frequently performed 5-wicket in an innings at Test level (67).
The feat of taking the most number of ten wickets in a match at the Test level (22). 

He is the only player to take 10 wickets / match against all Test playing countries.


Fastest 350 in terms of matches played and 800 Test wickets, (actually the only bowler to take more than 708 wickets).


The only player to take 10 wickets in a Test match in four consecutive matches. He has done the feat twice.
The only bowler to take 50 or more wickets against each country playing the country.


Only Muralitharan and Jim Laker (England) are bowlers who have taken two 9 wickets in an innings of a Test match.
